Patuxent Commons is a vibrant new mixed-income, affordable housing community in Columbia, MD that will foster social connection among neighbors and engagement with the wider community.  It is a place where people of all ages, abilities and incomes can live, thrive, and connect.
 
Envisioned by the Autism Society of Maryland and brought to life by Mission First Housing Group and many other partners, Patuxent Commons is a unique, inclusive, affordable residence in Columbia, MD that dozens of residents now call home – adults with disabilities alongside seniors, families and other adults.

Patuxent Commons officially opened with a ribbon cutting in November 2025, marking the realization of a shared vision for inclusive, affordable housing in Columbia, MD. This 76-unit apartment community offers a mix of affordable and market-rate homes and was developed by Mission First Housing Group based on an intergenerational housing concept envisioned by the Autism Society of Maryland.

Older adults have the opportunity to rent 40% of the units, with 25% of the apartments reserved for individuals with disabilities. The remaining units are available to families and other adults seeking affordable housing options, with six units offered at market rate.
