Autism in the Park April 1st!
Help us kick off Autism Acceptance Month on April 1, 2023 with Autism in the Park! The FREE event will be held from 10:00am-2:00pm at Laura’s Place Playground, in the North area of Blandair Regional Park in Columbia, MD. Enjoy opportunities to visit with first responders, elected representatives, learn about the Autism community, enjoy interactive play, entertainers, face painting, music and food trucks. FREE to attend. Sponsored by: Autism Society of Maryland, Howard County Department of Recreation and Parks. Community partners joining us are Howard County Police Department, Howard County Public Schools, The Arc Maryland, Yoga Center of Columbia, SPIRIT Club, RICOCHET Dance, Equipment Connections for Children, Howard County Fire & Rescue. The park is located at 5750 Oakland Mills Road in Columbia, MD and the event will be held in the North Area.
Note on Parking: There is limited parking in the lot adjacent to the event; however, there will be shuttles run by HC Dept. of Recreation and Parks from the other parking lots in Blandair Park. Please follow the signs on where to park and pick up the shuttle bus!
Round Up at the Register April 1-30 at Clarks Ace Hardware!
Clarks Ace Hardware joins the Autism Society of Maryland this month to #CelebrateDifferences as we work together to build an inclusive community where individuals with Autism live fully through connection and acceptance. Your gift through Clark’s Round-Up Program will help the Autism Society provide social events and support groups to hundreds of individuals and families navigating the Autism Journey throughout the year! The program will be running at both the Ellicott City (10325 Baltimore National Pike) and Columbia (8895 McGaw Road) stores!
Thoughtful Thursdays at Manor Hill Brewing for Autism Acceptance Month!
Dine out any Thursday during April at Manor Hill Brewing to support AUSOM during Autism Acceptance Month! AUSOM is one of three charities selected by Manor Hill to participate in Thoughtful Thursday this month. On Thursday during April, when you dine in or carry out at Manor Hill, you will receive a wooden token that you can drop into the charity box of your choice. At they end of the month, they will tally up the number of tokens in each charity’s box and make a donation to each cause. Thank you to Manor Hill for their support! Manor Hill is located at 3733 Old Columbia Pike in Ellicott City, MD.

Autism Acceptance Month Outdoor Extravaganza!

Celebrate Autism Acceptance month outdoors with Howard County Recreation & Parks! We invite families with members on the autism spectrum to enjoy a variety of guided and self-paced activities at the Nature Center. Activities include sensory pathways, scavenger hunts, nature exploration, games, and crafts. Preregister to receive event schedule prior to arriving. Be sure to stop by and visit the Autism Society table!
