Adolescence is a time of significant change, growth, and self-discovery. For autistic tweens and teens, the teenage years can bring unique opportunities and challenges related to puberty, communication, friendships, emotional regulation, sensory needs, mental health, identity, and increasing independence.

Join the Autism Society of Maryland and xMinds (The Partnership for Extraordinary Minds) for an informative webinar exploring how autism can shape the adolescent experience and how families, caregivers, educators, and professionals can provide meaningful, individualized support. We’ll discuss:

  • What physical, emotional and social changes to expect during puberty and how these may look different for young people with autism.
  • How to navigate conversations about bodies, boundaries and relationships in ways your child can understand
  • Supporting hygiene and personal care routines, including menstruation
  • How to respond to anxiety, mood shifts and new behaviors with strategies that support regulation and wellbeing
  • Tools to help you teach body awareness, consent and safe versus unsafe touch

Presented by the Autism Society of Maryland and xMinds
