Disability Pride Outside – 35th Anniversary of the ADA

Celebrate Disability Pride Month with Montgomery Parks and AUSOM

Join Montgomery Parks, the Autism Society of Maryland, and other community partners for a family-friendly celebration of Disability Pride Month and the 35th Anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). This inclusive event is open to all and will feature a variety of adaptive outdoor activities at Black Hill Regional Park.

Event Details:

  • Kayaking (ticketed – please register for only one timeslot)

  • Pontoon boat tours (ticketed – please register for only one timeslot)

  • Fishing (ticketed – please register for only one timeslot)

  • Adaptive mountain biking demonstrations

  • Birding

  • Self-guided hiking

  • Picnicking

  • Black Hill Discovery Center

To ensure accessibility, free kayak equipment and pontoon boat spots are available on a first-come, first-served basis for individuals with disabilities. Additional boat rentals will be available through Black Hill Boats.

Accessibility features include:

  • Wheelchair-accessible shuttle cart

  • Accessible parking

  • Sign language interpretation

  • Sensory retreat tents

  • Onsite support staff and volunteers

Please note: The event takes place near a body of water. If someone in your group is prone to wandering or elopement, close supervision is strongly encouraged.
