What do behavioral specialists do? When do you need to have a bevioral specialist on your team?

HCPSS behavioral specialists Sheila Collector and Stacy Barger talk with parents about how they assist teams in problem-solving and assessing sitations from the student’s perspective. Behaviors happen for a reason and they look at the situation through that lens. Collector and Barger discuss many of the tools they use in constructing behavioral plans such as schedules, sending work home ahead of time, establishing consistent routines, wait-time processing. Considerations such as environment, communication, preventative strategies, and start directives are discussed.
