This four-part series explores the importance of self-love and self-understanding for Autistic self-advocates who experience loneliness and isolation. Led by self-advocate Steven Isaacson, these sessions will be a mix of engaging presentations and reflections that will feature Autistic speakers and panelists. The goal of this series is to share tools and perspectives from past challenges and help participants chart a path forward for their lives.
The last installment explores how the intersection of self-love, neurodiversity, universal design, and inclusive community spaces can help individuals break out of isolation and loneliness. A panel of business owners and community leaders will discuss strategies for how they combat isolation in Autistic people by building accessible communities. These strategies focus on creating community where people live by helping members build community integration skills and develop accessible community gathering spaces. What drives this is self love, the idea that we are worth being community members and active participants in our neighborhood.
