SUMMARY:Every Step Counts Autism Walk & 5K Run
DESCRIPTION:Join us for the 2024 Every Step Counts Autism Walk & 5K Run on October 5th from 9am – Noon at Centennial Park in Ellicott City! \nEach year\, the Autism Society of Maryland’s Every Step Counts Autism Walk & 5K Run brings together those touched by Autism and members of the wider community in a supportive\, energizing\, and fun environment. This year’s event on October 5\, 2024 continues that tradition\, featuring a 5K run and a 4K walk around Centennial Park in Ellicott City\, MD\, with the option of a more mellow 1K stroll. The event’s Title Sponsor is Pete Pappas & Sons and Olvia Dance of Fox 45 Baltimore returns as our emcee! All proceeds benefit the Autism Society\, now serving communities in and around Howard\, Montgomery\, and Anne Arundel Counties. \nAttendees can take in the family-friendly Event Village that includes inflatables\, entertainment by roving performers\, bubble and balloon artists\, and costumed characters! Kids under 11 run or walk for free\, but registration is required! The 5K offers senior and non-binary categories plus great prizes for top teams and runners. Sponsors receive a table in the sponsorship tent\, strong visibility through digital marketing\, social media\, and event signage\, plus FREE Walk/5K registrations and event t-shirts\, along with the benefits listed below \nUnleash Your Inner Superhero at this Super-Powered Community Celebration! \n\n\n\n\n\nLast year’s Every Step Counts Walk & 5K was truly a superpowered success. Nearly 1\,000 participants came together to celebrate inclusion\, connection\, and the strength of Maryland’s autism community—and the Superhero theme brought extra joy\, energy\, and excitement to the day.\n\nFrom creative costumes and capes to cheers at the finish line\, the superhero celebration reminded us that heroes come in all forms. The overwhelming support from families\, teams\, sponsors\, volunteers\, and supporters made the event unforgettable and helped fuel programs and services that support autistic individuals and their families across Maryland.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nBecause of the incredible response and community excitement\, we’re bringing the Superheroes back again this year as we celebrate a very special milestone—AUSOM’s 20th anniversary. This year’s walk will honor two decades of advocacy\, support\, and community\, and we can’t wait to celebrate together in superhero style.
