SUMMARY:Charting the Lifecourse
DESCRIPTION:Join us for this FREE session! \nCharting the LifeCourse: THE GOOD LIFE VISION \nSunday\, October 27\, 2024 from 9:00-11:30AM\nIn person \nIntroduction to Charting the Life Course Framework\, Tools\, and Resources \nThe “Good Life Vision” \nThe Charting the LifeCourse (CtLC) framework was created to help individuals and families of all abilities and all ages develop a vision for a good life\, think about what they need to know and do\, identify how to find or develop supports\, and discover what it takes to live the lives they want to live. \nThe “Good Life Vision” \nLife is a journey where each stage of life impacts the other and different life experiences bring us closer or further away from our “good life.” In the LifeCourse framework\, we will use the term “life trajectory” to describe the path the journey takes. It helps us to think about what has helped or hindered us in the past and what might work or may get in our way moving forward. The higher our expectations\, the more opportunities and experiences we will have\, and the closer we will get to achieving our goals and dreams. Every life stage is connected\, and what happens in each\, affects all the stages to come. The life experiences in each stage build upon one another and prepare a person for the future life stages. \nPurpose: Enhance and expand planning for students with disabilities from age 14-21 \nFor:     Parents of children with disabilities ages 14-21 \nOutcomes:  As a result of the training . . . \n(1)   Parents/caregivers are familiar with CtLC tools and resources \n(2)   Parents/caregivers are using “the good life” vision to support their loved one \n(3)   IEPs are better informed with goals to support the child’s envisioned “good life” \n(4)   Services and resources necessary for life after high school are identified \n(5)   Ultimately\, the DDA Person-Centered Plan for services is easier to write\, and families report the transition process is less stressful \nPresented by Beth Benevides\, Hussman Institute for Autism\, Charting the Life Course Ambassador \nSponsored by the Autism Society of Maryland \nFREE to attend but REGISTRATION is REQUIRED to receive the Zoom login by email! \nCLICK TO REGISTER FOR THE 10/20 SESSION \nCLICK TO REGISTER FOR THE 10/27 SESSION \n(PLEASE REGISTER FOR ONLY ONE SESSION!)

DESCRIPTION:Grab you lunch and join us for this virtual presentation on gut health and Autism!\nFREE but registration is required to receive the login in at https://pathfindersforautism.org/autism-and-the-gut/\n\nDr. Pamela Compart is a developmental pediatrician and integrative/functional medicine physician who has a particular expertise in and passion for treating children with Autism. This includes considering internal biochemistry\, balance and any deficiencies in order to optimize brain function. During this session\, Dr. Compart will share how she combines these “outside in” and “inside out” treatments to help a child reach his or her true potential\, particularly as it relates to gut intestine imbalance\, toxins\, deficiencies in vitamins or minerals\, all to optimize brain function.\n\nYou will receive the Zoom login with your registration confirmation. SUMMARY:Autism and Everyday Executive Function
DESCRIPTION:Virtual Event\nThis presentation will be based on a simple statement made by an adult autistic friend of mine\, “autism changes the rules” she said. “In fact\, it is more important for an autistic person to learn executive functions than it is to learn social skills.” Executive functions essentially control our behavior and emotions\, but for the autistic person this can be difficult. This presentation will be about the executive functions\, but more importantly\, there will be detailed suggestions for how to access and strengthen these functions specifically for the autistic individual. The ideas shared will be simple\, direct\, and applicable for home and school. Presented by Paula Moraine\, M. Ed. To register visit https://pathfindersforautism.org/asd-exec-func-webinar/.
