She is also the parent of a daughter with disabilities and has experienced first-hand the challenges experienced by the families and children she serves.  She has served on the board of directors of the National Epilepsy Foundation and Council of Parent Attorneys and Advocates.  She is a frequent speaker at family conferences on helping families build better relationships with the school and their IEP teams.
